Our first day in Alaska immerses us in the area's history. Feel the frontier-friendly atmosphere of Fairbanks on a leisurely cruise down the Tanana River aboard the sternwheeler "Riverboat Discovery". Highlights include a visit to the Chena Indian village and the home of Susan Butcher, three-time Iditarod dog sled race winner. We'll even see an Alaskan bush pilot in action. Next we travel by coach to Gold Dredge #8 where we will tour and even pan for gold! Later, return to Fairbanks for the rest of the evening at leisure. Choose an optional tour or explore Fairbanks on your own. The evening is free as well, so enjoy!
