JOIN STAGECOACH TRAVEL & PRINCESS CRUISES
PANAMA CANAL CRUISE
March 11-21, 2020
DAY 1: ARRIVE FT. LAUDERDALE - BOARD SHIP
Welcome to your Panama Canal adventure! We travel to the Des Moines airport for our flight to Ft. Lauderdale where we will board Princess Cruise Line's Caribbean Princess. From this majestic ship see the engineering marvel that is the Panama Canal and experience the new locks, pristine islands and unforgettable ports. Settle in and prepare for a cruise like no other!
DAY 2: AT SEA
While cruising the Caribbean today, take advantage of the ship's many activities. Enjoy a game of bridge, visit the health center for an exercise class or sauna, swim in the pool or enjoy relaxing
DAY 3: GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS
When Columbus made his landfall in the Caymans in 1503, he found tortoises and sea turtles in such profusion that he promptly named the islands Las Tortugas. But the name that stuck for the islands was the Carib word "Caimanas." Fitting, since the caiman is a New World crocodilian and the islands were long the lair of pirates, buccaneers, and assorted freebooters. Despite their past, the Caymans are a Caribbean demi-paradise of white-sand beaches, coral gardens, and offshore waters harboring spectacular shipwrecks. Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman also boast the highest standard of living in the entire Caribbean. This union of natural beauty and cosmopolitan style makes Grand Cayman a spectacular port of call for today's adventurers. Note: Grand Cayman is Passengers transfer to shore via ship's tender. In certain sea conditions, an alternate pier is used to transfer passengers ashore. This may cause tour durations to vary.
DAY 4: AT SEA
Caribbean Princess is the perfect escort for exploring the world while enjoying a relaxed, unhurried ambience onboard. Unwind poolside and watch a hit film with Movies Under the Stars (R), indulge in a soothing massage from an outdoor cabana at The Sanctuary, or savor a premium steak cooked to order in the Crown Grill.
DAY 5: CARTEGENA, COLUMBIA
One of the most interesting cities on your itinerary steeped in history. This was the transit port for all the wealth Spain derived from South America. The famous "Old City" is comprised of 12 square blocks filled with attractions, boutiques and restaurants. Throughout Colombia, the Spanish Empire's influence in the New World is self-evident. Its fortress walls, quaint narrow streets, and balconied houses are all vivid reminders of Spain's hold on Cartagena and throughout the Caribbean and South America.
DAY 6: PANAMA CANAL (SCENIC CRUISING) PANAMA - CRISTOBAL
Today is one of the highlights of the cruise as we pass through the new locks of the Panama Canal and do scenic cruising of Gatun Lake before re-entering the canal heading to the port of Cristobal. The narrow isthmus separating the Atlantic from the Pacific Ocean had a colorful and turbulent history long before Ferdinand de Lesseps first dreamed of building a transcontinental canal. Spanish conquistadors hauled Incan gold through the dense rainforest to ports on the Atlantic. And 49ers braved mosquitoes and yellow fever to get to the California gold fields. The Panama Canal remains one of the great American engineering feats of the 20th century! We stop at the port of Cristobal visitors to Panama will discover a whole range of scenic wonders.
DAY 7: LIMON, COSTA RICA
Costa Rica's Limon Province boasts pristine beaches, sprawling banana plantations and dense rainforest. These Caribbean lowlands are still sparsely populated--nearly a third of the province's population lives around Puerto Limon--and conservation efforts have led to growing eco-tourism. Limon Province offers other charms as well. Afro-Caribbean influences abound, from the lilting speech and reggae rhythms brought by Jamaican settlers to the colorful bungalows lining small fishing villages. Limon is a zesty little slice of heaven.
DAY 8: AT SEA
Each day, a world of exciting activities awaits, from cooking demonstrations to dance classes, trivia contests and a range of enrichment programs, including our Encounters with Discovery at SEA (TM) speaker series from experts who offer insights into the places you'll visit.
DAY 9: OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA
Ocho Rios (Spanish for "Eight Rivers") is located on the northern coast of Jamaica--67 miles east of Montego Bay. Blue-green mountains, white-sand beaches, lilting breezes wafting across floweradorned hillsides - Jamaica is a sensual feast. Stunning natural beauty and a unique society molded by British, African, Spanish and Asian influences make Jamaica an unforgettable port of call in the Caribbean. Ocho Rios is a superb slice of Jamaica. The area is named for its spectacular rivers and waterfalls, including famed Dunn's River Falls.
DAY 10: AT SEA
There's always something happening on board - from heading to the Princess Theater for a lavish original musical production to enjoying a blockbuster movie poolside under the stars or simply relaxing in a lounge sipping a cocktail where a live band is playing your song.
